The illustration on the cover of the Aug. 2 issue of Time magazine was created right here on campus, as students in the University’s unique MFA in Illustration program watched.
The Aug. 2 issue of Time, which hit newsstands on Friday, July 23, features a cover story titled “The Case Against Summer Vacation.” The cover illustration shows a seemingly carefree boy, wearing nothing but shorts and a baseball cap, enjoying a lazy summer day by skipping a rock across a pond.
Well-known illustrator Chris Payne (whose work appears under the name C.F. Payne) created the illustration on July 19 and 20 as he was teaching in one of the art studios in the Harry Jack Gray Center.
